Bidding On Auctions
How can Haggle's prices be so low?
Because the bids used in Haggle auctions are paid for in advance, the auction itself helps cover the cost of the item up for bid. Just hang on until the auction's end for the opportunity to buy brand-new, top-name electronics, bid packs and gift cards at a fraction of the retail price.
The final auction prices often seem too good to be true, how?
Each bid costs money, and the bids spent by all users in any given auction help defray the cost of the final item. In some auctions, the total amount spent by all users on bids exceeds the cost of the item. In others, the total amount spent by all users on bids is less than the cost of the item. Either way, the auction winner has the opportunity to get a great deal!
Are the products on Haggle new or used?
All products featured on Haggle are brand new, unless otherwise stated in the Product Details available on each auction page.
How does bidding on Haggle work?
Bidding on Haggle is simple, fast-paced and almost as exciting as the great deals themselves. Simply pre-purchase your bids in packs of 20, 40, 75, 150, 300 or 600. Once you find an item you'd like to bid on, click the "bid" button. Each bid placed increases the final price of the auction item and adds additional time to the auction clock. If you're the highest bidder when the auction ends, the item is yours to buy at the final auction price.
How do I register to bid?
Registering on Haggle is easy. Simply visit the Sign Up page to create your account. All you need is an email address to create a username and password that you'll use to log in to the site and participate in auctions. Account usernames cannot be changed so select your username carefully. Please note that we allow only one account per user, with a maximum of two accounts per household.

I referred a friend to Haggle, when do I get my free bids?
In order for you to receive 5 free bids for referring a friend on Haggle, your friend must register and purchase a bid pack. Once your friend has completed their bid pack purchase, you will be notified via email that 5 free bids were applied to your account.
Where can I find auctions to bid on?
What auction types are there?
Auction types vary in two ways: by the price increments and by the time added to the auction clock with each bid placed. In standard auctions, the item's price rises by 10 cents and 15 seconds are added to the auction clock every time a new bid is placed. In other auctions, the time and price increments will vary (for example, the price may rise by 1 cent and/or the auction clock will increase by 5 seconds). These auctions are easily identified with a red badge on the auction page.
What is the difference between live and future auctions?
Live auctions are open for bidding. Future auctions are simply a preview of items that will soon be available for bidding.
How can I keep track of my auction activity?
In the My Auctions section of the My Account page, you can track the status of all auctions you've participated in. For auctions you've won, you can track order and shipping status too. When an item you've purchased is ready to ship, the tracking number will be displayed on this page and sent to you via email.
Which bidding techniques will help me win auctions?
- Buy bids in advance. Haggle auctions are fast paced. You don't want to run out of bids or have to leave the auction midway through to buy additional bids.
- Watch the clock. The last bidder wins the auction. Keep in mind that each bid adds time to the auction clock.
- Give yourself plenty of time. Each bid placed adds time to the auction clock and auctions for popular items can last quite a while. Be sure you have time to participate in the entire auction.
How long does an auction last?
The duration of an auction is listed on the item auction page under the "Time Left" header. However, each bid placed adds additional time to the auction clock, giving everyone an opportunity to win. Auctions for items that are particularly popular and receive a lot of bids will frequently last longer than their planned duration.
Why does time on the auction clock go up?
Each time a bidder places a bid, 15 seconds is added to the clock. This extra time gives everyone the opportunity to bid on an item before the auction closes.
Why does the new time on the clock seem to vary?
There can be multiple bidders placing bids on an auction at the same time (especially if time left is running low), so the amount of time added can vary. Remember, 15 seconds is added to the clock for every bid placed.
I placed a bid at the last second, but the auction ended anyway. Why didn't my bid get registered?
Because Haggle auctions are conducted over the Internet, it is occasionally possible that the time shown on your browser might get slightly out of sync with our servers. We believe that this situation is rare, and is more likely with slower internet connections and older computers or browsers. The time on our servers will always be the time that is used to determine auction ending. Please see the Technical Problems section of this FAQ for further information on supported systems and software.
I've just won an auction, now what?
Congratulations! As a final bidder, the auction item is now yours to buy at the final auction price. The item will remain available for purchase at this price for 14 days. When you're ready to complete your purchase, simply click the "Claim Your Item" button on the auction page and complete the checkout. Your order will then be processed and shipped.
Is there a limit to how many auctions I can win?
To give everyone the opportunity to win great deals, Haggle households are limited to 3 wins within 24 hours and 20 wins within 30 days. However, there is no limit to the number of Haggle auctions you can participate in, so auctions you've lost don't count against your monthly total. You can easily monitor your auction wins and track your bidding status in real time from the Track Won Auctions section of your My Account page.
What happens if I reach the maximum number of auctions won?
If you reach one of the auction limits (3 wins within 24 hours or 20 wins within 30 days), you will not be able to place new bids in auctions until the date/time indicated on your My Account page. This includes auctions in which you've already placed bids. However, if you remain the highest bidder in another auction when the time runs out, you will still be allowed to complete that purchase. Please note that users and their households are not allowed to open new accounts during this period to avoid the limits and Haggle reserves the right to not fulfill auctions won by any individuals with multiple accounts or by households that exceed the limit collectively. You can easily monitor your auction wins and track your bidding status in real time from the Track Won Auctions section of your My Account page.
I lost an auction; can I apply the bids I used to another auction?
You can only use Haggle bids once. Bids used in an auction you've lost cannot be applied to other auctions.
Can I get a refund for my unused bids?
All bid purchases are final. Unused bids cannot be returned for a refund. Have unused bids? Shop Live Auctions now.
Do bids ever expire?
Yes, unused bids in your account will expire after 12 months from the date of purchase.
Can I transfer bids to another user?
Bids are associated with a single user account and are non-transferable.
Are Haggle LLC employees allowed to use Haggle.com?
Haggle employees, board members, and their immediate family members are not allowed to bid on Haggle and there is no internal software we use to bid on Haggle against our users. Our goal is to build a long term business, and any improper bidding enabled in any way by us would only hurt our users and undermine our long term goals. Technical Problems
What happens to the auctions during system outages?
In the event of a system outage, bidding will be paused on all live auctions. Once the site is restored, an additional 15 minutes will be added to all auctions affected by the outage, so you have plenty of time to get back in the game.
Haggle didn't recognize my bid; what happened?
Haggle accepts all bids in the order they are placed. If a competing bidder places a bid a split second after you do, they may become the auction leader before your name even appears on the auction page. If you have a slower Internet connection and place a bid too close to the auction end time, your bid may not post before the clock runs out. For that reason we recommend posting bids at least 15 seconds prior to the end of each auction.
I have a Mac; can I use Haggle?
Haggle can be accessed from any computer that is connected to the Internet, including Macintosh computers.
Which Web browsers does Haggle support?
- Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher
- Firefox 3.0 or higher
- Safari 4.0 or higher
How fast does my Internet connection need to be?
There is no minimum Internet connection speed required to bid on Haggle. However, the slower your connection is, the slower your auction updates will be. Since all bidding on Haggle happens in real time, we recommend DSL or better for the optimal Haggle experience.

Most banks reverse one of those authorizations the same day. However, in some cases, banks can take up to a week to reverse an authorization. Please contact your bank directly if you're experiencing this problem.
